Email campaigns
Design, send, and track email campaigns with built-in A/B testing, engagement scoring, and automatic follow-ups for your hottest leads.
How campaigns work
Campaigns let you send targeted emails to groups of leads and track exactly who opens, clicks, and shows buying intent. Every campaign flows through four stages: draft, send, track, and follow up.
Creating a campaign
- Go to Email Marketing in the sidebar, then click Campaigns.
- Click Create Campaign in the top-right corner.
- Enter your campaign name and subject line.
- Use the visual block editor to design your email. Drag and drop text, image, button, and divider blocks to build your layout.
- Select your recipients by filtering on lead status, tags, or a saved segment.
- Click Preview & Test to send yourself a test email and verify everything looks right on desktop and mobile.
- Optionally enable A/B subject testing to test two subject lines against each other.
- Click Send Now or Schedule to queue the campaign for a future date and time.
Visual block editor
The campaign editor uses a drag-and-drop block system. Available blocks include:
- Text — rich text with formatting, links, and merge tags (e.g.,
{{first_name}}) - Image — upload or paste a URL, with alt text and optional link
- Button — call-to-action with customizable text, color, and link
- Divider — visual separator between content sections
{{first_name}} to personalize your emails. Personalized subject lines typically see 20-30% higher open rates.Selecting recipients
You can target your campaign audience in three ways:
- All leads — send to every lead with an email address
- Filter by status/tags — build a one-time filter using lead status (Hot, Warm, Cold, etc.) and tags
- Saved segment — select a pre-built audience segment for reusable targeting
Asan automatically deduplicates recipients and excludes leads without valid email addresses.
Auto follow-ups
Enable auto follow-ups to re-engage leads who showed interest but did not take action:
- In the campaign editor, toggle Auto Follow-Up on.
- Choose the trigger — leads who opened but did not click, or leads detected as hot.
- Set the delay (e.g., 2 days after the original send).
- Write your follow-up email content.
Follow-up emails are sent automatically and tracked as part of the same campaign in analytics.
Campaign statuses
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Draft | The campaign is being composed and has not been sent. You can edit everything freely. |
| Scheduled | The campaign is queued to send at a future date and time. You can cancel or reschedule before the send time. |
| Sending | The campaign is actively being delivered to recipients. This may take several minutes for large lists. |
| Sent | All emails have been delivered. Tracking data is now accumulating. |
| Paused | Sending was paused mid-delivery. You can resume or cancel the remaining sends. |
Campaign analytics
After sending, open the campaign to view its analytics dashboard:
- Opens — total and unique open count with open rate percentage
- Clicks — total and unique link clicks with click-through rate
- Intent signals — leads flagged as high-intent based on repeated commercial link clicks (see Engagement & hot leads)
- A/B results — if A/B testing was enabled, see which subject line won and by how much
- Bounces & complaints — emails that bounced or were marked as spam
