Tags

Color-coded labels for organizing leads into custom groups. Use tags to segment your pipeline, track campaigns, and filter your view to exactly the leads you need.

What tags are for

Tags are flexible labels you create and apply to leads. Unlike status (which is system-defined) or source (which tracks where a lead came from), tags are entirely yours to define. Common uses include:

Creating tags

  1. Go to Tags in the sidebar.
  2. Click + New Tag.
  3. Enter a tag name (e.g., "Hot Referral").
  4. Choose a color from the palette. Colors make tags visually distinct in the leads table and on lead cards.
  5. Click Save.
Use distinct colors for different tag categories. For example, blue for campaign tags, green for priority tags, and orange for workflow tags. This makes scanning the leads table much faster.

Applying tags to leads

There are several ways to tag a lead:

MethodHow
Lead detail pageOpen the lead and click the Tags field in the left column. Select one or more tags from the dropdown.
Bulk editSelect multiple leads in the table, click Bulk Edit, and add or remove tags for all selected leads at once.
CSV importInclude a "Tags" column in your CSV. Separate multiple tags with commas.
WorkflowsSet up a workflow action to auto-tag leads when a trigger fires (e.g., tag as "Follow-up Needed" when a call goes unanswered).

A lead can have multiple tags. Tags appear as colored badges on the lead row in the table and on Kanban cards.

Filtering by tag

Use tags to create focused views of your pipeline:

  1. Go to the Leads table.
  2. Click the Tag filter in the filter bar.
  3. Select one or more tags. The table shows only leads with those tags.

Tag filters combine with other filters. For example, filter by tag "VIP" and status "Hot" to see your highest-priority leads.

Managing your tag library

Go to Tags in the sidebar to see all your tags, how many leads each tag has, and options to edit or delete.

Tags are shared across your organization. All team members see the same tag library and can apply tags to their leads.

Frequently asked

How many tags can I create?+
There is no limit. Create as many tags as your workflow needs.
How many tags can a single lead have?+
A lead can have as many tags as needed. There is no per-lead tag limit.
Can I use tags in email campaign targeting?+
Yes. When building audience segments for email campaigns, you can include or exclude leads by tag. This is one of the most powerful ways to target campaigns precisely.
If I delete a tag, are the leads deleted too?+
No. Deleting a tag only removes the label. The leads remain in your CRM — they just no longer have that tag.
