Tags
Color-coded labels for organizing leads into custom groups. Use tags to segment your pipeline, track campaigns, and filter your view to exactly the leads you need.
What tags are for
Tags are flexible labels you create and apply to leads. Unlike status (which is system-defined) or source (which tracks where a lead came from), tags are entirely yours to define. Common uses include:
- Campaign tracking — tag leads by the campaign that brought them in (e.g., "Spring Promo," "Webinar Attendee")
- Priority grouping — tag high-value leads for special attention (e.g., "VIP," "Referral")
- Workflow segmentation — tag leads by their stage in a custom process (e.g., "Needs Quote," "Contract Sent")
- Audience building — use tags to define segments for email campaigns
Creating tags
- Go to Tags in the sidebar.
- Click + New Tag.
- Enter a tag name (e.g., "Hot Referral").
- Choose a color from the palette. Colors make tags visually distinct in the leads table and on lead cards.
- Click Save.
Applying tags to leads
There are several ways to tag a lead:
| Method | How |
|---|---|
| Lead detail page | Open the lead and click the Tags field in the left column. Select one or more tags from the dropdown. |
| Bulk edit | Select multiple leads in the table, click Bulk Edit, and add or remove tags for all selected leads at once. |
| CSV import | Include a "Tags" column in your CSV. Separate multiple tags with commas. |
| Workflows | Set up a workflow action to auto-tag leads when a trigger fires (e.g., tag as "Follow-up Needed" when a call goes unanswered). |
A lead can have multiple tags. Tags appear as colored badges on the lead row in the table and on Kanban cards.
Filtering by tag
Use tags to create focused views of your pipeline:
- Go to the Leads table.
- Click the Tag filter in the filter bar.
- Select one or more tags. The table shows only leads with those tags.
Tag filters combine with other filters. For example, filter by tag "VIP" and status "Hot" to see your highest-priority leads.
Managing your tag library
Go to Tags in the sidebar to see all your tags, how many leads each tag has, and options to edit or delete.
- Edit — change the tag name or color. The change applies everywhere the tag is used.
- Delete — removes the tag from all leads. The leads themselves are not affected.
