Custom fields
Add your own fields to lead profiles to capture data specific to your business — property type, budget range, contract date, or anything else that matters to your sales process.
What custom fields do
Every Asan CRM account comes with standard lead fields (name, email, phone, company, status, source). Custom fields let you extend this with fields tailored to your industry and workflow. Once created, custom fields appear on every lead's detail page, are available in filters, and are included in CSV exports.
Field types
When creating a custom field, choose the type that matches the data you need to capture:
| Type | Description | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Text | Free-form text input for short answers. | Property address, company size |
| Dropdown | Predefined list of options — the user selects one. | Lead quality (A/B/C), Property type (Condo/House/Townhouse) |
| Date | Date picker for scheduling or tracking milestones. | Contract expiry, follow-up date |
| Number | Numeric input for quantities, amounts, or scores. | Budget ($), Number of employees, Square footage |
Creating a custom field
- Go to Settings in the sidebar.
- Click Custom Fields under the Lead Management section.
- Click + Add Field.
- Enter a field label (e.g., "Budget Range"), select the field type, and configure any options (for dropdowns, add each option).
- Click Save. The field is immediately available on all lead detail pages.
How they appear on the lead detail page
Custom fields appear in the left column of the lead detail page, below the standard fields. Like all other fields, they are inline-editable — click any custom field value to change it directly.
- Text fields show an editable text input.
- Dropdown fields show a select menu with your predefined options.
- Date fields show a date picker.
- Number fields show a numeric input.
Empty custom fields display a placeholder — click to fill in the value.
Filtering by custom fields
Custom fields are available as filter options in the leads table. This lets you build targeted views like "all leads with a budget over $500K" or "all leads with property type = Condo."
- Go to the Leads table.
- Click the Filter controls.
- Select your custom field from the filter dropdown.
- Set the filter value or range.
Custom fields in imports and exports
When you import a CSV, you can map spreadsheet columns to your custom fields during the column mapping step. When you export leads, all custom field values are included in the CSV output.
Managing and deleting fields
Return to Settings → Custom Fields to edit or delete custom fields. You can:
- Rename a field — the label changes everywhere, but existing data is preserved.
- Edit dropdown options — add or remove options. Existing values that match removed options are kept but no longer selectable for new entries.
- Delete a field — removes the field from all lead profiles. This is permanent and the data in that field is lost.
