Engagement & hot leads

Asan automatically detects high-intent leads from their campaign interactions and upgrades them to Hot status so you can prioritize follow-up.

How engagement scoring works

Every time a lead interacts with one of your email campaigns, Asan tracks the interaction and assigns engagement weight. When a lead crosses the intent threshold, they are automatically upgraded to Hot status with a visible badge — no manual scoring setup required.

Engagement scoring is fully automatic. There is nothing to configure or enable — it works in the background across all your campaigns.

Engagement signals

Asan tracks the following interactions and assigns weight to each:

SignalWeightDescription
Email openedLowThe lead opened your email. Opens alone do not trigger hot status.
Link clickedMediumThe lead clicked a link in your email.
Commercial link clickedHighThe lead clicked a link to a pricing page, booking page, product page, or similar commercial URL.
Multiple commercial clicksVery HighThe lead clicked 3 or more commercial links across your campaigns — strong buying signal.
Reply to campaignHighThe lead replied directly to a campaign email.

Auto-upgrade to Hot

When a lead accumulates 3 or more commercial link clicks across your campaigns, Asan automatically:

  1. Upgrades the lead's status to Hot.
  2. Applies a visible hot intent badge on the lead's card and detail page.
  3. Includes the lead in your Cori daily briefing as a priority follow-up.
  4. Logs the upgrade event in the lead's activity timeline with the triggering interactions.
The hot intent badge is separate from manually setting a lead's status to Hot. The badge specifically indicates that the lead was auto-upgraded based on campaign engagement data.

Undoing an auto-upgrade

If a lead was incorrectly flagged as hot (e.g., they were clicking links out of curiosity, not buying intent), you can undo the auto-upgrade:

  1. Open the lead's detail page.
  2. Click the Undo button next to the hot intent badge.
  3. The lead reverts to its previous status and the badge is removed.
  4. That lead is permanently excluded from future auto-upgrades — Asan will not re-flag them, even if they continue clicking.

Frequently asked

What counts as a commercial link?+
A commercial link is any URL pointing to a pricing page, booking/scheduling page, product page, checkout page, or similar action-oriented destination. Standard navigation links (e.g., your homepage, blog posts, social media profiles) are not counted as commercial.
Can I adjust the threshold for auto-upgrade?+
The default threshold is 3 commercial link clicks. This threshold is optimized to minimize false positives while catching genuine buying intent. If you need a different threshold for your use case, contact support.
Does opening an email count toward hot status?+
Opening an email contributes to overall engagement tracking but does not trigger the hot status auto-upgrade on its own. Only commercial link clicks count toward the 3-click threshold. This prevents false positives from leads who open emails but do not take action.
How do I turn off auto-upgrade for all leads?+
Auto-upgrade is a core feature of the engagement system and cannot be globally disabled. However, you can undo individual auto-upgrades using the Undo button on each lead, which also prevents that lead from being auto-upgraded again in the future.
Do engagement signals carry over across campaigns?+
Yes. Engagement is tracked per lead across all campaigns. If a lead clicks one commercial link in Campaign A and two in Campaign B, that counts as 3 commercial clicks and triggers the hot status auto-upgrade.
