Tasks
Create tasks attached to leads or standalone to keep your follow-ups organized. Track due dates, get reminders, and never let a lead slip through the cracks.
Creating a task
- Go to Tasks in the sidebar. This opens your task list with all current tasks.
- Click + Add Task. A form appears where you can enter the task details.
- Enter a title. Use a clear, actionable title like "Follow up with John about pricing" rather than just "John."
- Set a due date. Choose when the task needs to be completed. Tasks without a due date will not trigger reminders.
- Link to a lead (optional). Select an associated lead so the task appears on that lead's detail page.
- Assign to yourself or a teammate. By default, the task is assigned to you. Choose a teammate from the dropdown to delegate it.
Task views and filters
The Tasks page provides several views to help you focus on what matters right now:
| View | What it shows |
|---|---|
| All Tasks | Every task in your organization, regardless of status or assignee. |
| Due Today | Tasks with a due date of today — your immediate priority list. |
| Overdue | Tasks past their due date, shown in red. These need urgent attention. |
| Completed | Tasks that have been checked off. Useful for reviewing what has been done. |
| My Tasks | Only tasks assigned to you, filtered from the full list. |
Dashboard quick-add
The dashboard includes a quick-add task widget so you can create tasks without leaving the page. Type a title and set a due date — the task is created instantly. This is ideal for capturing follow-ups during your morning review.
Completing tasks
- Check the box — click the checkbox next to any task to mark it as complete.
- Completed tasks move to the Completed filter view and are hidden from your active lists.
- Reopen — uncheck the box to reopen a task if you need to revisit it.
Due dates and reminders
Asan uses color-coded urgency to keep due dates visible throughout the app:
- Overdue — tasks past their due date are highlighted in red across the app.
- Due today — tasks due today are shown in orange so you know what needs attention now.
- Upcoming — future tasks appear in the default style.
Notifications fire when a task becomes due, so you are alerted even if you are not on the Tasks page. Cori also includes overdue tasks in your daily briefing, ensuring nothing falls through the cracks.
Lead-linked tasks
When you link a task to a lead, it appears on that lead's detail page under the Tasks tab. This keeps follow-ups visible in context — anyone viewing the lead can see what needs to happen next.
- Lead-linked tasks show the due date and assignee directly on the lead detail page.
- Completing the task from the lead detail page works the same as completing it from the Tasks page.
- A single lead can have multiple tasks attached to it.
Tips
- Start each day by reviewing the "Due Today" and "Overdue" views — clear these before taking on new work.
- Use tasks instead of mental notes. If something needs to happen tomorrow, create a task now so it shows up in your briefing.
- Delegate tasks to teammates by assigning them — it is more reliable than sending a message and hoping they remember.
- Link tasks to leads whenever possible. Standalone tasks are fine for internal to-dos, but lead-linked tasks keep your pipeline organized.
