Importing Google Contacts
Connect your Google account and import contacts directly into Asan CRM as leads — no spreadsheet needed. Select the contacts you want and they appear in your pipeline instantly.
How it works
The Google Contacts integration uses OAuth to securely connect your Google account to Asan CRM. Once connected, you see a list of your Google contacts and can choose which ones to import. Each imported contact becomes a lead with their name, email, phone number, and company pre-filled.
Step-by-step import
- Open Integrations. Go to Settings → Integrations from the sidebar.
- Connect Google Contacts. Click "Connect" next to Google Contacts. A Google sign-in window opens.
- Authorize access. Sign in with your Google account and grant Asan CRM permission to read your contacts. Asan only requests read-only access — it cannot modify or delete your Google contacts.
- Select contacts to import. A preview list shows all your Google contacts with name, email, and phone. Use the checkboxes to select the ones you want, or click "Select All" to import everything.
- Click "Import Selected." Asan CRM creates a lead for each selected contact. They appear in your leads table immediately with a source of "Google Contacts."
About OAuth permissions
When you connect your Google account, Asan CRM requests the following permission:
- View your contacts — read-only access to your Google Contacts list. Asan cannot edit, delete, or add contacts to your Google account.
You can revoke this permission at any time from your Google account security settings. Revoking access does not remove leads that have already been imported.
What gets imported
| Google Contact field | Asan CRM field |
|---|---|
| Display name | Lead name |
| Email address(es) | Lead email (primary) |
| Phone number(s) | Lead phone (primary) |
| Organization | Company |
| Notes | Lead notes |
If a Google contact has multiple email addresses or phone numbers, Asan imports the one marked as primary. Other numbers and emails are noted in the lead's notes field.
Tips
- Clean up your Google contacts first. Remove outdated entries or group the ones you want in a Google contact label before importing — it makes selection easier.
- Check for duplicates after import. If some Google contacts already exist as leads in Asan CRM, you may end up with duplicates. Use Cori's Database Intelligence to detect and merge them.
- Use multiple Google accounts. You can disconnect and reconnect a different Google account to import contacts from another inbox.
